20 weeks - halfway there!

It's hard to believe that I'm already halfway to motherhood.  Little M is already 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana!  She is really, really active now.  More so than she has been to this point.  I feel her swimming around and stretching quite a bit throughout the day.  AND Derek has finally felt her kick, too!  He's such a proud daddy already.  Another milestone of sorts, we have "seen" her.  Over the weekend, I noticed that I felt heavier on my right side.  I lifted my shirt and noticed that there was a bulge on the right side of my tummy, leaving the left side flat.  Madeline was obviously sitting pretty to the right.  Shortly after, I felt her move and my tummy went back to normal.  Then, this week, she was be-boppin' around and Derek and I watched as my tummy moved with her.

It has been an eventful couple of weeks for the Beavers.  Madeline joined mom, dad, VieVie and Papa for the 2010 Symphony Debutante Ball in Greensboro, where VieVie served as Chair.  Madeline moved around quite a bit once the music started.  She's either a fan of the symphony, or she wants to be a debutante, too (Vie would argue the latter). Such a fun event, but sadly, Derek and I couldn't hang with the grandparents - we were in bed by 11:30, VieVie and Papa, 2:00 a.m.

We also celebrated New Years Eve with friends at Kim and Darin's house and as we kissed the last year as "just the two of us" goodbye, we joyfully welcomed our daughter's birth year.
