We enjoyed a fun trip to DeBordieu last week with Papa and
Vie. Madeline faired really well on the
drive down and back (4 hour trip, 1 hour nap total for both hauls). She talked and snacked and played and sang a
few songs she made up along the way.
Needless to say the trip seemed shorter this year with the
entertainment.
Morning one was a little rough for poor Madeline who woke up
with an upset tummy. She was so puny and
vomited three times before breakfast. We
rested and kept her on a bland diet, per the pediatrician’s suggestion, and she
was back to normal by lunch time (and was ticked that she couldn’t partake in the
yummy meals that day).
The rest of the trip was relaxing and fun. Madeline loves the beach. She runs all over the place, enjoyed her
beach toys in the sand, ate some sand, face planted in the ocean (on purpose)
and made friends with some kids on the beach - they shared their beach balls
and buckets of goodies, showed her sand fleas and baby crabs, and introduced
her to the wonderful world of flying kites. Beach fun through your child’s eyes
is pretty amazing. We take so much for
granted as adults. It’s a nice reminder
to stop what you’re doing and take it all in.
Papa and Derek took a trip to a barbecue joint they’ve had
their eyes on for four years, so Vie, Madeline and I went to Georgetown
and shopped at the cutest children’s boutique.
Madeline came home with four outfits for next summer, including an
Easter dress and a dress for her second birthday. I love a sale, what can I say? ;)
Mama (or Baaaba as I’m now being called) and Daddy
(Daaa-deeeee) even had some beach time on our own, got in a long run and
enjoyed a dinner date at the Beach Club, thanks to Vie and Papa (really –
THANKS Y’ALL!).
Until next year, DeBordieu.
