Big girl update

Oh my word.  Our child has kept us busy these past couple of weeks.  She has perfected her crawl (she’s FAST), and has become quite independent.  This means that she is easily frustrated when we go to change her diaper and get her dressed because - heaven forbid - we have to lie her down flat.  Now that she can sit up and move around like a wild cat (or squirrel in this case), that’s what she likes.  Period!  Such a drama queen with her fake cry.

And after walking into her room one morning this week to find her on her knees, pulled up on the crib rails with a giant grin on her face, we decided it was time to lower the crib.  So, that was Tuesday night’s activity.  This is followed by a weekend of baby proofing cabinets, tables, stairs.  I don’t know how or when our baby became a “little girl,” but here she is world.  Watch out!

Madeline is just getting over a bacterial infection (the doctor likened it to a sinus infection).  She was so pitiful - it made my heart ache.  It all started with a fever of a 100, which took us to the doctor.  While there, Madeline got an exam and some blood taken from her finger.  After her afternoon nap that same day, she had a fever of 103. She was flushed, dazed, and just sobbing and radiating heat. This, of course, had me freaked out, but after speaking with the nurses (again), I was assured that it was normal.  So, we gave her Tylenol and Ibuprofen, kept a cold cloth on her, gave her her antibiotics and after the weekend, she was back to normal.  I hope it's a loooong time before we see something like that again.

Finally, in true little girl fashion…we’ve had haircut #6 this week.
