Our little Madeline is 4 months old and she's learning so much about the world around her. She reaches out for objects in front of her and holds her toys in her hands, checks them out and promptly inserts them into her mouth. Whether it's a toy, a pacifier, a shoulder and hand, you can guarantee that she'll try to chew on it. Madeline is eating about 5-6 oz. of formula every 4 hours and sleeps about 9-10 hours at night. I'm still "dream feeding" at 10, but the pediatrician told me that I really didn't need to worry with that anymore. So, we'll give it a whirl and see if she'll continue to sleep through the night. Please note, sleeping through still means waking up at 5 or 5:30 a.m. to eat before going back down for a couple of hours. Next sleep milestone is special and sacred for mommy and daddy....sleeping through 5:30 a.m. She's teased us with this a couple of times now, so we've had a taste of the good stuff. We want more!

We went to the doctor today for her 4-month check-up and all looks great! The doctor gave us the go-ahead to introduce rice cereal if we thought she was ready, so we'll give that a try tonight. Madeline weighs 14 lbs. 2.5 oz. (62%) and is 24.5" long (59%) - right on track. Dr. Dupuy said that from the looks of it at this point, Madeline may be about my height, or a little bit taller, but that he wouldn't be able to give a truly accurate guess until 2 years of age. We had two more shots today...M screamed, but even less than last time. Whew! Its tough to hear your little one so upset, but I'm confident that she's now home showing off her cool leopard print bandaids, not a care in this world.
