HOURS MADELINE SLEPT ON TUESDAY NIGHT!

Wahoo!   Last night, we hit six...but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we're looking at a bright future of a full nights sleep.

Madeline goes to church

Madeline attended her first church service this morning.  She did such a great job (slept the entire time) and of course, had everyone's attention.  If we had a penny for every time we hear "look at all that hair!"....

2 month shots...check!

Madeline vs. the shots:

Madeline: 1
Mommy & Daddy: 0

Today was the dreaded day.  Madeline had her first round of shots...and she did so well!  She did scream bloody murder when each shot was given, but quickly settled and waited for the next.  I think it was much harder on mom and dad than her.  So proud of our girl!

She weighs 11 lbs., 5.5 oz. (63%) and is 23.5" long (89%).  Above average all the way around, and passed her little physical.  Now, Madeline is sleeping it off and I think mom will too.  Whew!

Happy 2 month birthday, baby girl!

I can hardly believe that Madeline is 2 months old.  It seems like last week I was holding her for the first time.  She has grown so, so much and has become an even bigger joy than we could have imagined.  She's such a great baby - so very happy!

Madeline, or our little "Squirrel" as we call her, is quite the talker these days.  She has discovered her voice and coos and ooohs and ahhhs all day long. She has also started to laugh at mom and dad when we act silly and make faces at her.  She especially gets a kick out of a good game of "peek-a-boo." It's hysterical when mom's face pops out from behind the blanket.

We still love our bath time and she has started to splash and kick her feet in the water. She's getting stronger and stronger everyday and holds that head up high like a big girl.  M has also discovered how cute she is, and she likes to check herself out in the mirror.  Who can blame her?  I can only imagine that she is thinking of some dreamy new hairstyles to try out. Speaking of hair...little Madeline has had her first "trim." She was starting to grow an unruly mullet so mommy gave Vie the green light to trim it up!  I can't believe that our baby had her first cut before age 2 months.  Love all this hair!

Mom helped to host a baby shower for Auntie Carrie this weekend.  Jack and Madeline are sure to be good pals like their mommies (as you can see below, we're already working on it). Madeline is super duper excited about the upcoming year, as she's not only welcoming new friends (babies Janovich, Harrell, Smith, Bell, Cable, Massey & Miller), but a new cousin Beavers in November! Aunt Rachelle and mom are going to have too much fun with these little girls.  Daddies, hide your credit cards!

We go for her first round of shots this week...once I've dried my tears and mentally recovered from that, I'll post an update.  I have no doubt that she'll rock it, while I melt in the corner.

Newborn Photos

"A little ray of sunshine has come into the world, a little ray of sunshine in the shape of a girl."

Our incredible photographer, Amber Byrd, sent over Madeline's newborn photos last night.  It's amazing to see how much she has grown already!  Here are some of our favorites.  How are we ever going to choose?!

Madeline's first vacation

Madeline enjoyed her very first vacation to Smith Mountain Lake with the Beavers family this past week.  She enjoyed lots of love from her aunts and uncles and her Grandbuddy and Mimi! Derek and I bought a beach cabana to take on this vacation and it was perfect!  Madeline loved being outside and had some of her best naps on the dock.  We have a lake baby, ladies and gentlemen.  Here are some cute pics from our trip -

Miss M, at 7 weeks, is up to 10.8 lbs. and is so long.  I think Papa measured 24" a couple of weeks ago.  She has tapped into a tall gene somewhere along the line!  She's smiling up a storm and cooing at anyone who will listen.  One funny thing we have noticed is that when she eats or relaxes, she has a chunk of that long hair in her fist (typically on the left side).  THAT is a VieVie gene, I believe.  I'm enjoying getting out with the Little Miss more.  We enjoy our morning walks, riding in the car and the occasional outing.  She's such a trooper and a fun little companion for her mom and dad!
