Wow, we’ve been busy.
Fun busy, but busy nonetheless.
As we say goodbye to summer, we’re looking forward to a fun fall.
Last weekend, we took Madeline to her very first college
football game in Winston-Salem... The
Wake/UNC game! Now, if you know us, you
know that this was a bold move, seeing that Mom is an avid Wake fan and Dad is
an avid UNC fan. Derek and I agreed that
if it’s a Wake home game, Madeline wears black and gold. If it’s a UNC home game, she wears blue. So, black and gold it was this go
‘round! The game started an hour later
than expected due to some rough weather, but we finally made it in. We entered the stadium as the band was about
to come in. I wasn’t sure how Madeline
would react since it’s pretty loud, but she LOVED it. She danced and clapped and was pretty bummed
when they finished their entrance. For
the first 20 minutes or so, she “watched” the game. Ironically enough, though she was in Wake colors,
she was clapping when Carolina had the ball.
Sigh. Once she was finished with
her cheerleader routine, she was ready to get down and run. Vie was with us, so we all know who
volunteered to take her exploring. She was a trouper and we got to enjoy the
first half before heading home (we watched the end at home…GO DEACS!).
Side note: the last time Wake beat UNC was in 2007. Derek and I were at this game together. Then, 5 years later we go to another game to watch
our teams match up, and Wake wins again.
I don’t think Derek will agree to attend anymore Wake/UNC games with me
in the future.
We had a fun sleepover at Vie and Papa’s after the game, spent some time with E, and
woke up to one of Papa’s world class breakfasts. Madeline ate two pancakes (one shaped like a
squirrel) and a ton of eggs. She’s a
growing girl!
So, onto wonderful fall.
Cool weather, changing leaves, and Halloween costumes… decisions,
decisions.
