Father's Day with our favorite men

Dads are most ordinary men turned by love into heroes, adventurers, story-tellers and singers of songs.  - Pam Brown

Madeline's 3 year check-up

Speaking of growing like a weed...Madeline is officially a "big girl."  She now steps on the scale, is measured standing up and has her blood pressure taken at the doctor's office.  She's kind of a big deal....and she looked like the picture of good health.

Madeline weighs 30.2 lbs. and measures at 38."  She was such a champ at the doctor today.  She was cooperative, brave and even helped soothe her baby brother when he had to get shots.  After this she proceeded to prance through the back office to find Dr. Bowman so that she could say hello to him, as well.  Can't leave anyone out (when shots are not given, of course)!

I am beyond proud of this amazing child who made me a mama.  God is so good.

Benjamin, 6 months

Our handsome (and quite chunky) little man is 6 months old.  One half of a year.  How in the world did we end up here already?!  Time flies when you’re having fun – and chasing, feeding and loving babies!

Sweet Benjamin is just that – SWEET!  He snuggles and kicks and squeals when we walk into a room.  He always has a bright smile for us and loves to nestle his little head into his mama’s neck (swoon!).  He has also become fond of his own little voice and “talks” to us.  When we talk to him (or tickle him – he is SO ticklish), he just laughs and laughs.  Such a joy to be around.  Truly, the sweetest baby on the planet.

Benjamin is still sleeping well and eating like a pro.  He loves to eat…and this is an understatement.  He eats oatmeal twice a day and either a fruit or veggie once a day.  He has become quite fond of the spoon and has occasionally whined when he’s sitting at the table with us and we’re eating.  It’s like he literally realizes what’s going on and wants to eat.  And y’all – we feed the child.  A LOT.  So far, he has tried and liked green beans, carrots, green peas, sweet potato, squash, pears, peaches and banana.  On top of this, he’s chowing down on 7-7.5 oz. of formula every 2-3 hours.  Whew!  He’s not much of a napper, but the boy can sleep at night time.  He puts himself down around 7 and sleeps through until at least 6.  On occasion, he goes back to sleep until 6:30.

Benjamin has mastered rolling from his back to his tummy, and loves to play with his feet and chew on anything and everything. HE’s a little drool machine.  He hasn’t quite figured out how to roll from his tummy to his back, but his body mass is working against him, poor guy.  He hates, hates, hates a car seat, but can typically be soothed with a puppy lovey that he has.  He refuses to take a paci, so we’ll use what we can!

He is also starting to sit up on his own for a few seconds.  He knows to put his hands out in front of him for support which works for a little while, and then he throws himself backwards or topples over.  And when he is seated or reclined, he is trying to sit himself up.  He’s a strong little fellow, so I know he’ll get it down pat in no time!  In the meantime, he’ll continue to work on his legs, as he kicks and kicks and stands and bounces.

Mr. B has also been diagnosed with eczema, so we’ve replaced detergents, lotions and bath wash and his little skin has cleared up nicely. At his 6 month doctor’s appointment, he weighed in at 19 lbs. 10 oz. (81%), 27” long (67%) and his head measured 18 ¼”(97%).  He checked out healthy and happy and took his shots like a champ.

Moving on to the next adventures with little Benjamin Mills.  Hopefully I will figure out how to freeze time pretty quickly…he’s growing way too fast for his mama’s liking.
